How to Photograph a Scoresheet for Accurate AI Scanning
A clear photo gives the scanner a better starting point and makes review faster.
Use even lighting
Place the sheet on a flat surface with light across the whole page. Avoid strong shadows from your hand or phone. If one corner is dark, small numbers and inning boxes may be harder to read.
Keep the page square
Hold the camera directly above the sheet instead of at a steep angle. The full page should be visible, including team names, date, line score, player rows, totals, and notes.
Check focus before uploading
Zoom in on the photo after taking it. If player names or totals are blurry on your phone, they will probably be difficult for AI to interpret too.
Review the draft
AI scanning is a helpful first pass, not an official scorekeeper. Always review warnings, player names, totals, and final score before saving results to a public team or league page.
Quick checklist
- Use portrait or landscape based on the sheet shape.
- Avoid folded or curled corners.
- Do not crop off totals.
- Retake the photo if handwriting is blurry.
